DR. EDNA B. PRETILA, M.D. Dr. Pretila is an enthusiastic proponent of Preventive and Nutritional Medicine in her Integrative Medicine practice. She believes in treating the individual as a whole person, dealing not only with the physical but also the spiritual, social, environmental and emotional issues. As a Christian medical doctor, she is a fervent believer in the power of prayer and faith for health and healing. Dr. Pretila received her medical doctor degree from Cebu Institute of Medicine, Cebu City, Philippines. She had a two-year residency in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Veterans Hospital and a two-year fellowship in Gastroenterology at Case Western Reserve University, both in Cleveland, Ohio. While having her solo practice in Internal Medicine in Scottsburg, Indiana, Dr. Pretila observed that patients did significantly better when she started modifying their diet, encouraged lifestyle changes and added oral vitamins to their program. In her practice with 21st Century Medicine, Dr. Pretila has fine-tuned her knowledge in diet and nutrition and diagnostic nutritional testing. She also has noticed that some patients require more than just diet change and oral vitamins but need intravenous nutrition to guarantee optimum delivery of critical vitamins, minerals and nutrients into the cells. She also has observed that intravenous Chelation Therapy aids heavy metal detoxification and promotes cardiovascular support. Dr. Pretila realizes the strong connection between physical, spiritual and mental health and encourages health partnerships with patients to get to the core of the problem. As a Christian medical doctor, Dr. Pretila believes that the human body is fashioned by God to heal. When a person is sick, we need to get to the root of the problem, remove the obstacles, and give supportive treatments, so the body can heal. Ultimately, it is God who heals. The healing profession is mainly privileged to watch and participate in the miracle. Dr. Pretila’s approach is combining the best of conventional medicine and complementary medical therapies while seeking the guidance and help of the Great Physician. |
