CHELATION THERAPY

By Dr. George M. Wolverton

Here, we will tell you about two of our patients who have benefited greatly from Chelation Therapy and our Wellness Plan. In addition, we will give you some background information on related topics.

Patient Number One
A patient of ours, who was an executive at The General Electric Company when he lived in southern Indiana years ago, retired and moved to the Dallas, Texas, area. This patient was a good golfer and intended to golf more in his retirement. Unfortunately, he developed so much pain in his legs that he could not walk an 18-hole golf course and could not even walk from the golf cart to the first tee without excruciating pain.

He ended up in the very capable hands of Dr. Michael DeBaky, a world-renowned cardiovascular surgeon in Texas. Dr. DeBaky first did a sympathectomy on him, dilating the blood supply to the legs, which was quite compromised with his hardening of the arteries. When the pain continued, Dr. DeBaky suggested the only thing to do to relieve the pain was to do a bilateral above the knee amputation.

This patient said, “Before we do anything this drastic, I want to fly back to my family physician in Indiana and see if there are other interventions that can be done.”  As his family physician, we placed the patient in Clark Memorial Hospital, where we instituted a series of chelation treatments on him to pull out arsenic, mercury, cadmium, aluminum and lead. This then allowed the immune system to send out “garbage collectors” to clean out his circulation. At the end of 12 treatments, the pain in his legs was gone when he walked. He was able to walk around the block that encompasses Clark Memorial Hospital pain free.

After he returned to Texas, the first thing he did was to walk 18 holes on the golf course without pain. In his retirement years he continued to pursue playing golf and did not need an amputation of any sort. He also followed the Wellness Way rather than the American Way of eating and living.

Patient Number Two
A 74-year-old man arrived at Clark Memorial Hospital with gangrene of the right leg all the way up to the hip. The studies in the hospital revealed that this patient was an uncontrolled diabetic. He had been eating the American Way all of his life rather than the Wellness Way. We called in the surgeon, who assured us that the patient would need to have his leg amputated at the hip, which makes a prosthetic device application improbable if not impossible.

We explained to him and his family that there was a modality of therapy called Chelation Therapy, which Medicare at that time was paying for and did pay for faithfully until the year 1996. We kept him in the hospital for two weeks and chelated him every day except Sunday.

It was interesting to note that after this patient was chelated for two weeks, he did not have to have an amputation of his leg. We only amputated two toes! This patient not only did not have to have a below the knee amputation, above the knee amputation, or an amputation at the hip joint, but he was able to go home and clean up his lifestyle following the Wellness Way rather than the American Way. He died ten years later with his leg intact, although the best in traditional surgery knew it should have been removed at the hip years earlier.

Chelation Therapy
Chelation Therapy is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure performed in our office in which a chemical called ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid, or EDTA, is dripped into a patient’s bloodstream through an I.V. during a 1-1/2 hour period. EDTA is a biochemical sponge that has the ability to pull out toxic arsenic, mercury, cadmium, lead, and aluminum from the patient’s bloodstream. These toxins in essence put a “straight jacket” on the immune system, or “physician within,” so it cannot send out its leucotryines to clean toxins or “garbage” out of the circulation of the body and restore oxygen and nutrition to the body parts. The removal of these toxins releases the “straight jacket” these toxins have on the immune system, thus, allowing the immune system to do what it is supposed to do and to improve the functioning of the estimated three trillion biochemical exchanges in each cell in the body.

In our office, we have chelated over 6,000 people, and many of them have had significant improvement in their symptoms when Chelation Therapy has been combined with the lifestyle and diet changes we recommend in our Wellness Plan. For more information about Chelation Therapy read our Chelation Therapy Overview. Syndrome X (Metabolic Syndrome)
Patient Number One had a condition called Syndrome X (Metabolic Syndrome), which put him in a 90% likelihood category for strokes, heart attacks, cancer, and diabetes. The large degree of hardening of the arteries resulting from Syndrome X caused the arteries to the legs to almost completely close off, so the patient could not get enough oxygen and nutrients to the lower extremities. This condition is called Intermittent Claudication. In addition to the Chelation Therapy treatments, we put this patient on an organic diet where there were none of the 3,000 food additives in the food chain. We also had him avoid foods made out of white flour and white sugar, and foods that begin with the letter “C,” like chocolate, candy, cokes, cookies, crumpets and caffeine. We also had him avoid alcohol, the fastest carbohydrate of all. We recommend these dietary guidelines for all of our patients.

Diabetes
Both of the patients described above were diabetics. Diabetics typically have less circulation as a result of hardening of the arteries, which causes arteries to be 10, 20, or 30 years older than their real age. This means that people who have diabetes often have older arteries at a younger age than anybody else, and, thus, they usually respond quickly and favorably to Chelation Therapy.

Our Recommendations
If you have diabetes, beginning peripheral vascular disease, coronary artery disease, strokes, or an impending stroke, we will be glad to talk with you about our recommendations for improving your health through diet and lifestyle changes along with Chelation Therapy or other I.V. Therapy. Let us teach you how to live the Wellness Way rather than the American Way. Finally, ask yourself, “Is anything edible worth dying for?”

We believe we can help you with your health problems. Call our office at (812) 282-4309 for an appointment or for additional information.
